Manchester United have sacked Ruben Amorim as head coach after 14 months in charge at the club. The sacking came after the 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road. However, there are murmurs in the circle that the ouster was less due to the performance but more to do with the now infamous press conference after the draw.

Amorim in that conference hinted that the Board of Directors were not backing him enough to reach the desired position. Apparently, that conference did not go too well with the authorities and the writing was on the wall. The big news however is that Ruben Amorim walks away with a staggering figure of ten million pounds as compensation.

Amorim was the sixth permanent manager Manchester United had appointed after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. The club has since 2013 already shelled out around fifty-seven million pounds in compensation on David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik Ten Hag. Add to that another ten million and the figure of just compensation and severance packages have mounted to nearly 70 million pounds.
