The summer transfer window in Europe is over. Alexander Isak has made his move to Liverpool for a 125 million pounds and that has created a new record for the most expensive trade in the EPL. And we have just had clubs in England spend around 3.09 billion pounds in transfers.

The summer of 2025 has truly been the summer where the Premier League has shown its financial might. With players like Wirtz, Ekitike, Zubimendi, Gyokeres, Sesko and co now plying their trade here, it won’t be wrong to say that the PL is now the Super League. If we take a look at the list below, you will see that the teams in England have spent alone what the other 4 teams in Big 5, i.e., namely Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1 have spent.

  1. Premier League- 3.6 billion euro
  2. Serie A – 1.18 billion euros
  3. Bundesliga – 840 million euros
  4. Ligue 1 – 626 million euros
  5. La Liga- 708 million euros

It has been a window where the Premier League clubs have absolutely dominated. They have far outspent their other counterparts. Serie A are a distant second. So much has it been An English summer that even a newly promoted team like Sunderland have an outlay of 162 million pounds, making their intent to stay in the top division for as long as they can.

Liverpool have dominated in England with a transfer fee of 415 million pounds, followed by Chelsea and Arsenal at 282.1 and 255 million pounds respectively. In Italy, the top three spenders were AC Milan, Juventus and Atalanta with an outlay of 164, 137.3 and 125.8 million euros respectively. In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen have pipped traditional big spenders Bayern Munich by forking out 198.15 million Euros. Bayern have an outlay of 88.8 million euros.

Over in France, its once again PSG shelling out 169.92 million euros and in La Liga, it was Real Madrid who were the big spenders with an outlay of 181 million euros followed by local rivals Atletico Madrid who spent 153 million euros.

It’s once again been an English summer of dominance and a show of financial might. I would not be surprised if by the end of the 2025-26 season, Fiorentino Perez, Gianluca Ferrero and Joan Laporta once again decide to come up with a new and improved Super League. And rumor has it that the English clubs are ready to go again once the January transfer window opens.
